Rolling down I-45 toward Galveston, I pulled off for a quick pit stop at Bayou Bistro--and let me tell you, this is more than just a roadside bite. If you're island-bound, this place deserves a spot on your itinerary. I went straight for the special of the day: grilled Mahi-Mahi. The plate came with a side of grilled vegetables that were spot-on--tender, well-seasoned, and carrying just the right amount of char for that smoky depth. The seasoned rice was a pleasant surprise--rich, savory, and with a creamy, risotto-like texture that made it feel far more upscale than a highway exit would suggest. The star of the plate, the fish, was cooked exactly how you'd want it: flaky, moist, and evenly done from edge to center. Of course, I couldn't resist snagging a bite of my son's meatball sub. Big, juicy meatballs, a tangy marinara, and bread with enough structure to hold it all without falling apart--it was a winner. Dessert wasn't in the cards this time, but the Pineapple Tres Leches is already on my must-try list for my next trip through. If it's anywhere near as good as the rest of the meal, I'll be leaving Bayou Bistro with both a full stomach and zero regrets.

We stopped here today on the way to Galveston, pretty much by accident(we had mapped to a different place) and we were so pleasantly surprised by this little gem! We had the boudain eggroll appetizer, I had the islander pizza (ham and pineapple) and my husband had the meat lovers! The food was fantastic, cute little place with good service! We will be back!

My son and I were out touring around the area on our way to Galveston and came across this Bayou Bistro. What a great little place. I ordered the shrimp PoBoy and my son the meatball sub. Both were very good, and the French fries were perfectly crispy. The atmosphere of the place was great. I really recommend making your way there if you can, it'll be worth the trip.

Casa de Salazar

I'm kinda biased to this place but, because it's my local go to place I want you to know it too. The ingredients are fresh, they had tuna that was seared perfect. The gumbo had great flavor. By the way, nobody makes gumbo the same way, your mom doesnt work there so stop comparing it to that. The desserts are made in house. Last one i had was the coconut pie. Holy hell. I cant tell you how good it is. It was delicious, it made me mad and happy, and that's what good food does, it stirs emotion. It made me mad because, how could this be that good? Happy because i got to try it and enjoy it. Once upon a time in Mexico has a scene that replays in my mind. The wait staff are great, I was impressed when our server served us our first slice of pizza. I didn't realize it but that small gesture was thoughtful. Get the pizza, I recommend the naked pizza no tomatoes, add pepperoni, olives, and feta. I like the garlic butter on that one as opposed to tomato sauce. That's mine feel free to use it, I'm getting it with bacon next time.

People were super friendly and provided great service. Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoors sitting. I honestly didn’t expect much for food and was just trying to find a place out of the Galveston main area but this place was not bad at all. Wings I would pass on but everything else was pretty good. Plenty of parking around. Nice drink selection and prices are reasonable.

Good menu selection as well as adult beverages. Its like an upscale neighborhood dive bar and grill. Didn't care for smoking on the patio as I am a non-smoker. Overall, I recommend
